A library is a collection of information, sources, resources, books, and services, and the structure in which it is housed: it is organized for use and maintained by a public body, an institution, or a private individual. In the more traditional sense, a library is a collection of books. The term can mean the collection, the building that houses such a collection, or both. In the modern word, library system in an integral part of education. In fact, it is difficult to think of an educational institution without adequate library facilities.
Being a special library, the library of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology plays an important role in the overall functioning of the college. It helps the college in fulfilling its aims and objectives it also helps the students to discover their own inherent potentialities and launch up constructive hobbies. “The library organization is the base of library administration to get better library administration, a library in its formative stage should be well planned because it is constituted as an active agency in the field of education, self improvement and moral reform”.
In the library of the Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology librarian is the head of the library and he is directly responsible to the principal of the college for the performance of his duties and there is an assistant librarian to deal the day to day activities of the library. Books are the basic bricks on which the library of the Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology built up. Book stock in the library comprises 6176 books, Books collection include reference books, text books and general books. And 56 journals and 275 CD- ROMS also library has.
Department Mission
Library serves as a resource centre and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of document’s useful for faculty and students of the institute and provides an efficient dissemination of knowledge.
