DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

The department of engineering physics forms the supporting group to various engineering disciplines. The faculty members of the department are committed to innovation in teaching, excellence in basic and applied research, and enhancement of the quality of student’s life. The department is fully equipped with state-of-art laboratory.

  • To educate students in fundamentals of Physics in Engineering curriculum.

RESEARCH CENTRE

The department is recognized to offer Ph.D/M.Sc (Engg) by research in the year 2013. At present, three research students are pursuing Ph.D degree. All the teaching faculties are also actively involved in various research activities.


Conferences/Seminar/Workshop

The Department organized a Science Academies’ lecture workshop on “Nano-Science and Nano-Technology”during March 11-12, 2016, jointly sponsored (Rupees 1.56 lakhs) by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, Indian National Science Academy, Delhi, The National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad and Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, Bengaluru. Total 130 Participants from 19 various departments and colleges were participated.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Convener of the workshop, Prof. Giridhar U Kulkarni, Director, Center for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences, Bengaluru. Prof. Timothy Fisher, Purdue University, USA was the Chief Guest of the function.

Mr. Vivek Alva, Trustee,Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri presided over the function. Prof. Peter Fernandes, Principal, Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodbidri was also present.

Dr. Santhosha Acharya, HOD, Department of Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ramaprasad A. T., coordinator of the workshop briefed about the lecture workshop and Mr. Rajesh Kumar P, Assistant professor, Dept. of Physics proposed the Vote of Thanks
