Information about the Department of Agricultural Engineering
The Department of Agricultural Engineering at Alva’s Institute of Engineering & Technology (AIET), Moodbidri, was established in 2021 with the vision of integrating engineering innovations into sustainable agricultural practices. The department offers a four-year B.E. (Agricultural Engineering) program that blends modern technology with core agricultural principles. Students are trained in diverse areas such as Farm Equipment and Power, Renewable Energy Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Food Technology and Post-Harvest Processing, and Farm Structures & Storage Engineering.
With a team of highly qualified faculty (including Doctorates and Postgraduates), the department actively engages in teaching, research, and extension activities aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in agriculture. Through collaborations, workshops, and international webinars such as “NEXT GEN AGRI-TECH: Technological Interventions for Sustainable Growth in Agriculture,” the department fosters innovation and global knowledge exchange to shape future-ready Agricultural Engineers committed to advancing sustainable agriculture.

About the International Webinar
The “NEXT GEN AGRI-TECH: Technological Interventions for Sustainable Growth in Agriculture” is a two-day international webinar scheduled for November 24th and 25th, 2025, hosted online by the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Alva’s Institute of Engineering & Technology (AIET).
The event is dedicated to exploring the future of farming through the lens of modern engineering and technology. Key themes covered by an international panel of experts—including academicians and industry professionals from India, Rwanda, and Australia—focus on pivotal areas such as Sustainable Agriculture for Vikshit Bharat 2047, Advanced and Precision Farm Equipment, Conservation of Energy in Agriculture, and Advancement in Food Tech Industries.
The second day will highlight contemporary topics like Smart Fertigation Systems in Vertical Hydroponic Farming and AI-ML-DL for Agricultural Engineers, emphasizing the shift toward data-driven, resource-efficient agriculture. The webinar targets scientists, faculty, students, and policymakers to facilitate global knowledge exchange and support the mission of nurturing future-ready agricultural engineers.
