Iftar function was organized at Shivaram Karanth Auditorium at the Vidyagiri campus on the occasion of Ramzan, the holy festival of the Muslims. The Iftar began with prayers (Namaz) breaking of the daily fast in true spirit of the tradition. The gathering was addressed by various illuminories including the chairman Dr. M. Mohan Alva.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangalore based trader Hameed Hassan said that Ramzan is observed by Muslims as a penance to please Allah, the Almighty. The need of the hour is to propagate the teachings of Prophet Mohammed in society, in order to promote harmonious living, added Hameed Hassan.
