The PG dept. Of Business Administration , Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology organised a session on Understanding Professional Grooming and Body Language for the First year MBA students, as part of their 15-day Orientation Programme.
The Formal Business Culture and Ecosystem, is a different animal altogether, especially when compared to the secure and safe environment provided by most of our Institutions. In this regard, the resource person attempted to showcase some tools which wouldhelp make the students transition easier and uncomplicated The session helped students understand the importance of First Impressions, and highlighted the fact that they would be judged even before an opportunity would arise for them to showcase their skill sets. He also shared Personal Grooming Tips and made the students understand the importance of being dressed well in general and dressing to the occasion in particular. Thereafter, he explained the few errors people make in business dressing
knowingly or unknowingly.
The session ended with the resource person stressing upon the topic of BodyLanguage. He said that about 7% of the message is conveyed through words and almost 93% comes from non-verbal communication, and that Body Language and other Non-Verbal cues play a major role in this non-verbal communication.
