Overview:

As part of the Capacity Development initiative for MBA first-year students, the team Aikyam from Section B organized a dynamic and engaging event. This inter-team business event is designed to test your practical knowledge, analytical thinking, communication skills, and creativity across three dynamic rounds. Participation from all team members is essential. Active involvement, critical thinking, and collaboration will be key to your success.

Inauguration:

The event officially commenced at 2:30 PM under the coordination of Mr. Johnson Fernandes.  Vaishnavi welcomed the participants and introduced the rules and regulations for the activities. She then invited the esteemed judges for the day, Mr. Johnson Fernandes and Ms. Vaishnavi Shetty, and Mr. Akshay Acharya, who were present to evaluate the performances and provide insightful feedback throughout the event.

Round 1: Finance Practical & Balance Sheet Identification

Round 2: Extempore Speech (HR Topics)

     Time: 2:30 PM – 3:40 PM

Objectives: To encourage collaborative learning and team coordination in solving practical finance-related problems.

Round 1: Finance Practical & Balance Sheet Identification

  1. Teams must solve the finance questions collaboratively.
  2. Identify and categorize the given items according to where they appear in the financial statements.
  3. The answers were Written on A4 sheet provided.
  4. This is a group activity. Active participation from all members was expected.
  5. Marks were awarded based on accuracy, team coordination, and presentation of answers.

 Round 2:  Extempore Speech (HR Topics)

  1. The time limit is strictly 3 minutes.
  2. No preparation time will be given.
  3. Speech should be relevant to the topic.
  4. Speech should have clarity and structure.
  5. Audience and team support is encouraged(non-verbal).

Round 3: Product Repositioning

Time: 3:45 PM – 4:40 PM

Judges: Ms. Vaishnavi Shetty and Mr. Akshay Acharya

Objectives:

To apply marketing principles such as target market identification, brand perception, and value proposition.

Each team was assigned one product that failed in the market. The teams had to brainstorm and present a strategy to reposition the product effectively.

 

Results & Rankings: Final scores were compiled based on performance across all three rounds. The results are as follows:

1st winner Sigma – 81 Points

2nd winner Bhageera – 74 Points

3rd winner Brainy Bunch – 70 Points

4th winner Vertex – 68 Points

5th winner Alpha – 67 Points

6th winner Aura – 51 Points

Outcomes:

  1. Interdisciplinary Exposure:

Students interacted with multiple business functions—finance, HR, and marketing—gaining a holistic understanding of how departments work together.

  1. Peer Evaluation Skills:

Participants learned how to observe, critique, and appreciate the performance of others with fairness and maturity.

  1. Time Management:

Each round had a strict time structure, pushing teams to prioritize and use time wisely under constraints.

  1. Academic Integration:

The event bridged classroom theory with applied skills, reinforcing textbook concepts in an engaging and realistic manner.

  1. Personal Growth & Initiative:

Many students stepped out of their comfort zone—either solving finance questions or speaking publicly—enhancing their personal development.

  1. Teamwork and Leadership:

All rounds required active contribution from every member, fostering team spirit, coordination, and leadership skills.

  1. Professionalism and Sportsmanship:

The event nurtured discipline, respect for others’ ideas, and professionalism in a competitive setting.

Conclusion:

The Capacity Development Activity was a resounding success, offering students an experiential learning platform to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world branding contexts. The Team Aikyam demonstrated exceptional planning and leadership in executing this event. Special thanks to the judges and faculty coordinators for their invaluable support.
