Overview:

As part of the Capacity Development initiative for MBA first-year students, the team Sigma from Section B organized a dynamic and engaging event aimed at enhancing participants’ marketing acumen, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. The activity featured a sequence of interactive rounds including a Marketing Battle, Brand Puzzle, and a Quiz Competition.

Inauguration:

The event officially commenced at 2:30 PM under the coordination of Mrs. Pavithra Jain.  Dhanyashree welcomed the participants and introduced the rules and regulations for the activities. She then invited the esteemed judges for the day Mr. Johnson Fernandez and Mrs. Catherine Nirmala David who were present to evaluate the performances and provide insightful feedback throughout the event.

Round 1: Guess the logo and Quiz

Round 2: Two Truths and One Lie

     Time: 2:30 PM – 3:40PM

Objectives: To enhance students’ strategic thinking, creativity, and presentation skills by simulating real-world marketing challenges.

Round 1: Guess the logo and quiz

  1. Each team Played by 4 members from each team.
  2. Logos with 4 options (A/B/C/D) will be shown on screen
  3. 15 seconds per logo to choose the correct one.
  4. Team discussion allowed, but without being loud.

 Round 2: Two truths and one lie

  1. Played by the other 3 members.
  2. Identify and tick the lie in each set.
  3. They can discuss quietly within their team.
  4. No talking to other teams or being loud – or lose points.

Each team was evaluated based on creativity, clarity, strategic alignment, and response during the countering round.

Round 3: Junk Tank

Time: 3:45 PM – 3:50PM

Judges: Mrs. Pavithra Jain and Mr. Johnson Fernandes

Objectives:

To encourage teams to creatively turn a broken or useless product into something valuable. It helps improve teamwork, communication, and quick thinking as teams prepare and pitch their ideas in a fun and convincing way. The round also tests how well participants handle questions from judges, just like real investors.

   From 3:45PM to 3:50 PM, participants got the product segment to test their brand knowledge and problem-solving skills. Teams worked collaboratively to solve branding challenges within the given timeframe.

Round 4: The PR Pulse

Time: 4:00 PM – 4:35 PM

Judges: Mr. Johnson Fernandes and Mrs. Catherine Nirmala David

Objectives:

The PR Pulse helps teams practice handling a company crisis calmly and confidently. They answer questions from judges and the audience while staying professional and respectful. It improves teamwork, communication, and quick thinking under pressure.

The final segment was a PR pulse round started at 3:40PM focused on teams act as a company’s PR teams and responded to the crises. It was conducted by Dhanyashree President of the sigma Team, who ensured smooth coordination and explained all rules beforehand.

Results & Rankings: Final scores were compiled based on performance across all three rounds. The results are as follows:

1st winner sigma – 58 Points

2nd winner Bhageera – 55 Points

3rd winner Brainy Bunch – 52 Points

4th winner Aikyam – 21 Points

5th winner Alpha – 21 Points

6th winner Aura – 21 Points

Outcomes:

  1. Effective Event Planning & Execution: Gained practical experience in organizing and managing a structured, multi-round event.

2.Leadership & Responsibility: Took charge of key tasks, made decisions, and ensured smooth coordination throughout the event.

3.Teamwork & Collaboration: Worked efficiently in groups, delegated responsibilities, and supported each other under time constraints.

4.Communication & Public Speaking: Improved skills in hosting, briefing participants, and addressing the audience confidently and clearly.

5.Crisis & Time Management: Handled unexpected issues calmly and ensured all rounds stayed on schedule.

6.Creativity & Innovation: Developed unique and interactive activities that blended fun with learning.

7.Professional Conduct & Ethics: Maintained discipline, transparency, and fairness in scoring, judging, and participant interaction.

Conclusion:

The Capacity Development Activity was a resounding success, offering students an experiential learning platform to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world branding contexts. The Team Sigma demonstrated exceptional planning and leadership in executing this event. Special thanks to the judges and faculty coordinators for their invaluable support.
