CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (2024-2025)

Overview:

As part of the Capacity Development initiative for MBA first-year students, the Vortex team from Section B organized a dynamic and engaging event aimed at enhancing participants’ marketing acumen, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. The activity featured a sequence of interactive rounds including a Marketing Battle, Brand Puzzle, and a Quiz Competition.

Inauguration:

The event officially commenced at 2:45 PM under the coordination of Mrs. Pavithra Jain.   Mr. Aryan Raghuram welcomed the participants and introduced the rules and regulations for the activities. He then invited the esteemed judges for the day Mrs. Sushmita Poojary and Mr. Ashok who were present to evaluate the performances and provide insightful feedback throughout the event.

Round 1: Marketing Battle

Time: 2:50 PM – 3:40PM

Judges- Mrs. Sushmitha Poojary, Mr. Ashok

Objectives: To enhance students’ strategic thinking, creativity, and presentation skills by simulating real-world marketing challenges.

The Marketing Battle was the highlight of the event. Each team was assigned a renowned global brand and was required to present a comprehensive marketing strategy. The brands provided were:

7Up vs Sprite

Nike vs Adidas

Samsung vs Apple

The session proceeded as follows:

  1. Team Aura and Alpha (7Up/Sprite) initiated the round with a strategic presentation, demonstrating brand positioning and promotional plans.
  2. This was followed by Nike and Adidas teams showcasing their campaigns.
  3. Each presentation was followed by a countering session, where teams answered challenging questions posed by the judges to test the depth of their understanding and strategy.
  4. Finally, the Samsung and Apple teams took the stage and concluded the marketing battle segment.

Each team was evaluated based on creativity, clarity, strategic alignment, and response during the countering round.

Round 2: Brand Puzzle

Time: 3:40 PM – 3:50PM

Objectives:

To enhance participants’ brand recall and creative thinking by solving uniquely designed brand-related puzzles.

    From 3:40 PM to 3:55 PM, participants engaged in a fast-paced brand puzzle segment designed to test their brand knowledge and problem-solving skills. Teams worked collaboratively to solve branding challenges within the given timeframe.

Round 3: Quiz Competition (Bid and Win)

Time: 4:00 PM – 4:35 PM

Objectives:

To test participants’ confidence and strategic decision-making through risk-based brand and marketing quizzes

The final segment was a competitive quiz round started at 4 :00PM focused on bid and win on the topic of finance, branding and marketing concepts and this also included aptitude round. It was conducted by Mr. Nagesh, President of the Vortex Team, who ensured smooth coordination and explained all rules beforehand.

Results & Rankings:

Final scores were compiled based on performance across all three rounds. The results are as follows:

1st winner sigma – 73 Points

2nd winner Bhageera – 67 Points

3rd winner Brainy Bunch – 56 Points

4th winner Aikyam – 50 Points

5th winner Alpha – 48 Points

6th winner Aura – 46 Points

Conclusion:

The Capacity Development Activity was a resounding success, offering students an experiential learning platform to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world branding contexts. The Vortex Team demonstrated exceptional planning and leadership in executing this event. Special thanks to the judges and faculty coordinators for their invaluable support.

Outcomes:

  4. Evaluation and Analytical Skills – Strengthened your ability to assess participant performance and prepare fair and insightful result reports.
  5. Team Management and Peer Engagement – Learned how to manage peer dynamics, assign roles, and keep participants motivated throughout all three rounds.
